Just recently the installation of a brand new double-girder 10T crane system was completed in North Bay for G&P Welding. The original plan was to install the bridge, then swap hoists with another crane and install the second hoist at a later date. Scheduling conflicts continually pushed the install date, but it happened to be a blessing in disguise as it allowed the secondary hoist time to arrive and be installed on the new bridge. This lucky break, along with an ingenious forklift crane jig made by G&P allowed for rapid install, with the entire process from ground to finished system taking only one day.
The previous experience of the G&P employees in installing cranes and their proactive nature helped tremendously in the preparation, installation and finishing of this crane and we greatly appreciate their co-operation and help.

Early impressions of the crane system were positive, with several commenting that the crane would be a huge relief in the future as production continues to ramp up at the G&P faciltiy.

Mansour Mining Inc. has again utilized the CraneWerx/O'Brien team approach to solve their material handling issues.
The recent replacement of a double girder, top-running bridge (55' span) went off without a hitch. The older crane had reached the end of its life cycle and was no longer efficient to use. CraneWerx and O'Brien's managed to deliver the new bridge with a custom trolley gauge within two weeks from order date to installation.
Kevin Murphy, Plant Supervisor, stated, "I wouldn't have believed it; there aren't many organizations --that I know of who could have turned this project around in this time frame."
Thanks to all involved in this project.

I would like to take a moment to thank all of our customers and suppliers for helping 2009 exceed all expectations again. As we all know, it has not been the easiest year in Northern Ontario, however, thanks to your support, CraneWerx has experienced real growth and development in the last year, and based on your confidence, we are doubly committed to continuing the levels of service, creativity, and flexibility that you require and deserve.
2010 should be a great year as we continue the momentum from last year. Some highlights and new endeavours are:
- the Automotive Lift Service program is off to a comprehensive start, and demand is steadily increasing; currently the remainder of our technicians are completing the ALI (Automotive Lift Institute) Certification Process for Inspectors and Technicians, ensuring that you will have qualified and competent people servicing your equipment
- we now stock Budgit electric chain hoists and trolleys from 1/2 ton up to 2 tons, as well as a selection of pneumatic hoists
- rigging hardware levels have increased again featuring the Yoke line and we have made a point of stocking Yoke's insulated swivel assemblies for added protection on cranes with sophisticated electronic components
- this year will also feature "Jib Hinge Kits" and "Tie-Rod Assemblies" available for immediate delivery; these build-your-own jib kits have everything that you need to fabricate your own jib cranes, featuring simple instructions and pre-engineered components and systems, you can effectively and efficiently build your own jib(s) and realize significant savings
Once again, thank you for all your support and confidence, and we wish you a great and successful 2010.

Congratulations to Kevin Whynott and the entire Total Electrical Systems group on the recent installation of their new 5 tonne crane and free-standing runway system in their new Chelmsford facility. The installation includes a 35 foot, single girder crane featuring the new Street ZX6 hoist and a custom engineered runway system, designed to maximize both floor space and headroom in the new TES facility.
One of the interesting aspects of the runway is the cantilever and bracing desgin to accomodate shop door access without restrictions.
The whole system, from initial order, through design, fabrication, and installation was completed in just 3 and a half weeks. Another testament to the O'Brien's Group and their ability to meet even the toughest deadlines, and for their creativity in thinking-outside-the-box on this project.

Kevin says, "I think the grout was basically just dry, and we were maximizing the utility of this shop with this new crane; it will certainly make our work easier."
We must say it was a pleasure to work with the entire TES Group and wish them great success in all their future endeavours.
